What are the global challenges?

The global challenges are outlined by the UN as the primary issues facing the world today.

The three broad global challenge categories for INCiTE are:

  • Climate action, Environment and Resources
  • Health, Wellbeing and Changing Societies
  • Inclusive, Innovative and Reflective Societies

The Network for Intercultural Competence to facilitate Entrepreneurship (NICE) has developed a framework for addressing these challenges which you can use to help you decide which global challenge you would like to work on at the INCiTE Summer School.

The NICE programme is separate to INCiTE, but both of these experiences focus on similar themes.

If you wish to find out more about the NICE programme, you can do this by visiting the NICE website.

How do I apply?

To apply, we will need some details on who you are and your preference of global challenge, as well as a 300-word personal statement on why you would be a good ambassador for the INCiTE Summer School, and how completing the course would benefit you and your future goals.

Applications will open on Monday, 2 February 2026 and close on Monday, 9 March 2026 at 12pm GMT.

If eligible, you will receive emails with the application link from the Widening Participation team in January and February.
