Students going on exchange to Switzerland may be eligible for funding via the Swiss European Mobility Programme (SEMP). The Swiss European Mobility Programme (SEMP) provides funding to eligible students to study at a Swiss partner university for between 3 and 12 months. SEMP funding is administered and paid by the Swiss host university, rather than the University of Edinburgh. Your host institution will inform you about funding eligibility and the process for applying. There's no guarantee of funding so if you have been allocated a place at a Swiss partner university, you should contact your host institution to request full details about the SEMP grant, including how to apply, how much funding is available, and when it is paid. If funds are limited, your host institution will determine who receives funding. As the University of Edinburgh does not administer the SEMP grant, we are unable to confirm the amount you may receive. However, as an indication, in recent years it has amounted to approximately 380 Swiss Francs per month. The SEMP grant is paid as flat rate amount, independent of the exact duration of your stay. For example, if you are going on a single semester exchange you will receive funding for five months, and a full year exchange for 10 months.
