The Air Miles Initiative provides students planning to undertake a group activity abroad with an opportunity to use the University’s accumulated air miles to pay for their flights. Air Miles eligibility criteria This opportunity is only open to groups officially affiliated with the University (School field trips, clubs and societies, etc.) who are travelling either during Flexible Learning Week in February or the Spring teaching vacation. Flights must go through KLM/Air France, so they may be subject to restrictions regarding destination, travel dates, etc. You cannot apply for this offer if you have already booked your flights.To be eligible to apply, your group activity must: Take place outside of the UK Take place during Flexible Learning Week or the Spring teaching break/Easter break Involve three or more Edinburgh University students (all students on the trip must travel on the same flight itinerary) Be officially recognised, either through a School, society, or other organisation Have demonstrable academic benefit Be deemed as having an acceptable level of risk regarding its proposed destination and activity (The University cannot support students going to countries categorised as ‘Red: Advise against all travel’ by the FCDO. How to apply for the Air Miles Initiative The application window for the Air Miles Initiative is from 4 November 2024 to 2 December 2024 at 12pm. Groups can submit their applications via the link below during these dates.Only one application per group will be accepted. When you apply, you must provide SWAY with details of your intended travel, including the destination, travel dates, flight costs, and the number of students participating in the trip. This is a competitive process, and SWAY has access to a limited number of air miles each year that it can distribute.
