KIMEP University

KIMEP University is the oldest and the largest North American-style University in Central Asia. It was founded in 1992 by the decree of Nursultan Nazarbayev, the First President of the Republic of Kazakhstan. KIMEP is an independent not-for-profit educational institution serving a multicultural and multinational student body. It is situated in a modern campus in the centre of Almaty, the largest city in Kazakhstan.

KIMEP aims to develop well-educated citizens and to improve the quality of life in Kazakhstan and the Central Asian region through teaching, learning, community service and the advancement of knowledge in the fields of business administration and social sciences. Over 2000 students attend KIMEP, and it has an international student base.

  • Students will be required to undertake health checks, including an x-ray, on arrival in Almaty.
  • There are restrictions on bringing certain medications into Kazakhstan. As the legal status and regulation of some medicines prescribed or bought in the UK can be different in other countries, students who will require medication whilst on exchange should research this as early as possible.

KIMEP hosts a subject-specific Russian language exchange.
