  • Politics & International Relations
  • Economics

Nanyang Technological University has confirmed that exchange students cannot take restricted programmes and courses.

  • All courses from our five autonomous institutions  
  • National Institute of Education (Only NIE general electives are available for exchange students) 
  • S Rajaratnam School of International Studies 
  • Earth Observatory of Singapore 
  • Singapore Centre on Environmental Life Sciences Engineering 
  • Lee Kong Chian School of Medicine 
  • Entrepreneurship courses offered by the Nanyang Technopreneurship Center 
  • Graduate Programmes offered by the Nanyang Business School 
  • Exchange Students are not allowed to attend Special Terms 
  • All courses offered by the School of Computer Science and Engineering (SCSE): These are courses with codes beginning with SC, CE and CZ. Depending on your requirements, you may be able to find suitable alternatives offered under their five other Engineering Schools instead. Campus Housing is offered to exchange students on an availability basis. Vacancies are allocated randomly via computer balloting. Applicants who are unsuccessful or miss the application deadline should be ready to seek off-campus accommodation for rent.

Students unable to secure campus housing will need to self-source off-campus options and should begin their search well in advance of their arrival in Singapore.

Immigration requirements

Students needing an entry visa to Singapore do not need to apply separately for one. Upon approval of the Student's Pass (STP) application, an In-Principle Approval (IPA) letter will be issued, which includes a single journey visa for entry into Singapore. 

You must hold a valid Student’s Pass (STP) issued by the Singapore Immigration & Checkpoints Authority (ICA) for the duration of your programme. Guidance on the STP application process will be provided after accepting an offer for Nanyang Technological University.  

Health insurance  

All exchange students must subscribe to the mandatory student insurance schemes. The insurance premiums are incorporated within the compulsory miscellaneous fees.
