What's next for the University's engagement with Una Europa? Una.Futura is Una Europa's ambitious four-year project which will run from December 2022 to December 2026 and will seek to provide multidisciplinary research-based education at all levels of higher education – including research modules and research internships from the undergraduate level. Alongside Una Europa’s partner universities, we will ensure graduates are future-ready for an interconnected and rapidly changing world. Una Futura has a number of key areas where efforts will be focussed including: Una Europa for Learners – creating innovative joint educational initiatives Una Europa for Researchers – supporting interdisciplinary research and increasing collaborative research with a particular focus on early-career researchers Una Europa for Society – increasing engagement with non-academic partners from across Europe and stimulating new internship and challenge-led learning opportunities Empowering students - co-creating a vibrant student community and cross-cultural student-led initiatives Empowering staff – developing a strategy on mobility and training for Professional Services staff to learn from their European peers Together with our new partners, we are excited to take the next steps in developing a truly open and inclusive European University. Furthermore, our commitment and that of Universität Zürich is a testament to the alliance’s ability to drive global competitiveness in European Higher Education outside of the EU and achieve a pan-continental European Campus. We are fortunate to have a key role in the driving seat, and it is now up to the students and staff at the University of Edinburgh to leverage all the unique opportunities that this can bring. Image The University of Edinburgh’s commitment to Una Europa, and indeed Una Europa’s commitment to the University of Edinburgh, gives us the opportunity to shape the very fabric of European higher education, to extend the impact of our research and innovation, and deliver a richer teaching and learning experience for all. The University of Edinburgh prides itself on being one of the world’s great international universities. Una Europa is integral to that today and central to how we will evolve over the coming years. Una Europa provides a platform for the University of Edinburgh to engage across Europe, a mechanism to provide opportunities for our colleagues and students, and a chance to reshape how higher education is delivered collaboratively across Europe and far beyond. The world is undergoing a series of profound changes and challenges – climate, energy, health, security, sustainability – all require integrated, interdisciplinary solutions that can only be developed through deep and committed partnerships. If universities are to make meaningful contributions, we must change how we work, who with work with, and what we hope to achieve. In addition, universities must equip our graduates with the skills, experiences and confidence to navigate an ever more complex and uncertain world.
