Teaching collaboration

Teaching collaboration is an important part of Una Europa's vision.

Cross-university curriculum reform and interdisciplinary program development have been at the forefront of this alliance. Together we are establishing a Europe-wide living lab for testing and scaling Joint Innovative Formats (JIFs) for education and mobility.

A key pillar of Una Europa’s vision is to build integrated curricula and jointly award degrees across all partners. Through participation, the University has gained a greater understanding of the mechanics of multi-partner joint programme design at a large scale and generated rich long-term collaborative connections.

The learning and teaching opportunities presented align with the key principles of the Curriculum Transformation Project set in ‘Edinburgh Student Vision’, including:

  • Connections with large-scale mobility opportunities across Europe
  • Expand staff learning through active participation in taskforces developing innovative educational formats
  • Access to a test bed for new innovative programme design
  • Easily accessed virtual and blended mobility opportunities
  • Facilitated and supported learning from Academic and Professional Service Staff

Piloted in summer 2022, Edinburgh hosted students from partner universities for the first Una Europa Summer School. Over two weeks, academics worked with students to consider the inter-related health of people, animals, plants and the environment.

It’s not an understatement to say that it’s been one of the most meaningful teaching experiences of my life.
