The Identities in Transition photovoice book is one of the many outcomes of the Identities in Transition research project that took place between 2020-2022 and was sponsored by the Mastercard Foundation.

These twelve students - Hammed, Ifeanyi, Favour, Josephine, Mary, Abena, Andrew, Marian, Abby, Anne, Judith, and Atang  - decided to pursue postgraduate and undergraduate degrees outside of their home countries.

Between 2021-2022, these Mastercard Foundation Scholars used images, writing and written reflections to share the stories of their journeys from Africa to North America and the UK, reflecting on how they adjusted to their new environments over time, the challenges they experienced, and the support systems they drew upon.

Through the lens of these images, the readers of this book can learn through the students' own experiences and explorations of how they position themselves in their new academic and sociocultural realities.
