AI and robotics partnership with Kerala

The University has entered into a significant partnership with Digital University Kerala, collaborating with the Alan Turing Institute, to establish a Centre for Artificial Intelligence at the Digital Science Park in Kerala, under the aegis of State Government of Kerala, India.

Collaborating to push AI boundaries

The newly proposed Centre for Artificial Intelligence aims to advance innovation and research in AI by leveraging the cutting-edge expertise of the Alan Turing Institute and the specialised strengths of Digital University Kerala in AI hardware and chips.

The Centre will focus on the latest developments in AI and robotics, with a particular emphasis on generative AI, which is expected to play a critical role in driving widespread AI adoption, enhancing scalability, and addressing new and emerging use cases. We aim to bring our best practices to establish and maintain a successful centre of excellence in AI for social good and support research-oriented activities in Kerala, including building industry linkages and training next generation in Gen AI and Trustworthy Robotics technologies and build academic talent pool

By fostering cutting-edge research and innovation, the Centre for AI at Digital Science Park is poised to become a regional hub for technological advancement, contributing to economic growth and the global AI landscape.

AI for robotics

This initiative was formally announced at India's first GEN AI Conclave at Kochi between 11-12 July, 2024.

Professor Sethu Vijayakumar, who will act as the International Academic Chair for this project, was one of the keynote speakers at this prestigious international event, organised by IBM, with the participation of dignitaries like the Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan, Industries Minister P Rajeev, NASA Astronaut Steve Smith and VP of IBM Dinesh Nirmal.

Kerala University of Digital Sciences, Innovation and Technology is India’s first on-campus digital university, established by Government of Kerala, India.

The Digital Science Park will also house other Centres for Excellence with other UK universities on different subject domains. University of Oxford and Digital University Kerala are already working on Cyber Security and with University of Manchester leading on Graphene.
