Europe Day 2023 Europe Day held on 9 May every year, marks the anniversary of the historic Schuman declaration, celebrating peace and unity in Europe. This Europe Day, we are marking the impact of over 35 years of our involvement in the Erasmus+ programme. This is highlighted through stories from past student and staff participants, as we recognise the ongoing opportunities, activities and partnerships for which it has been the foundation. Everything was a discovery We learned all the practical stuff in the Norwegian landscape about how to plan a route and provisions for a three-day tour, spot an avalanche prone slope and, my life's ambition, dig and sleep in a snow hole - TWICE! I remember the kindness of one of my professors I studied Legal Anthropology in German and he would check in with me after each class to make sure I had understood his lectures. He wore a tartan tie at one of our last lectures. Alles is Liefde! My two flatmates in Utrecht were my family for one year and the whole experience of getting to know people from different places gave me a taste for living abroad. I went on to live in Japan, Belgium, London then back to Edinburgh. 167 trips to Europe Our Go Abroad Fund which supports short-term international experiences will fund 336 individual experiences this summer. 167 to Europe with France, Italy and Spain as the most popular Go Abroad Fund destinations.
