The new Council for At-Risk Academics (Cara) Scotland Manager, Sheila Mills, will work to support displaced or at-risk academics and displaced communities across Scotland.
Welcome events service
We deliver the University’s welcome events and service for new international students, including airport welcome.
These events run each September and January. We liaise with community groups that support international students to support and promote their activities.
An annual events programme for students and staff will be delivered, in collaboration with EUSA. These events will be globally themed, to celebrate the diversity of our community, to celebrate and explore culture, to encourage connections between members of our community, and to showcase opportunities for international experiences. A workshop for staff to help shape the events will be held in November.
If you’d like to be involved, get in touch or sign up for our Community newsletter.
UncoverED is an Edinburgh Global-funded project which aims to uncover the history of some of Edinburgh’s forgotten graduates. The project is researching global alumni between 1780s-1980s.
Led by Henry Mitchell and Tom Cunningham, and with the help of eight Edinburgh students, UncoverED has found numerous notable BAME alumni. The research is ongoing until next year, and the stories of these alumni will be shared in an exhibition in early 2019.
