An alliance of eleven leading European research universities with global reputation and reach.

 

Una Europa aims to draw on our collective strengths to create a truly European inter-university environment, a University of the Future. Together the alliance brings together a community of 415,000 students and 68,000 staff, including 37,000 academic staff.

Five focus areas launch the alliance’s collaboration and projects: Cultural Heritage, Data Science and Artificial Intelligence, European Studies, One Health, and Sustainability.

Una offers unique opportunities to University of Edinburgh students and staff to study, collaborate and research with some of the most impressive universities in Europe.

Una Europa partner universities include Freie Universität Berlin, Alma Mater Studiorum Università di Bologna, Helsingin yliopisto/Helsingfors universitet, Uniwersytet Jagielloński w Krakowie, Universiteit Leiden, KU Leuven, Universidad Complutense de Madrid, Université Paris 1 Panthéon-Sorbonne, University College Dublin and Universität Zürich alongside the University of Edinburgh.

Una Europa launches an annual call for applications for seed funding. The aim of the seed funding initiative is to support the initiation of long-term collaborative activities between the partner universities. The idea is to “plant a seed” that can eventually attract external funding.

Applications are now open to all academic disciplines! Deadline to apply is 29 July 2022, 17:00 CET.

Since its launch, the Una Europa alliance has been developing initiatives to transform higher education and research in Europe. Head to our Student Opportunities page to read a snapshot of some of the numerous activities that Una Europa has launched and gives an indication of the types of opportunities that will be offered by Una in the future.

A huge range of initiatives and outputs were developed through Una Europa which engaged academic research and teaching staff as well as professional services staff. These included collaborative research projects, the development of joint programmes, PhD workshops, meetings and talks, as well as defining and delivering the governance of the projects.
