About the scheme

The UK-France bilateral research dialogue of February 2024 led to commitments from both governments to strengthen UK-France research partnerships. This mobility scheme facilitates UK researchers and staff in developing new collaborations with French institutions, with priority areas including energy transition, hydrogen, space, Earth observation, artificial intelligence, and research security. The mobility opportunities aim to build strategic partnerships and support the submission of Horizon Europe applications or other collaborative research proposals.

Key objectives:

  • Develop UK innovation capabilities through mobility to French research institutions.
  • Support long-term strategic UK-France research partnerships.
  • Enable researchers to build collaborative activities aligned with UK and EU-wide research priorities, particularly in the fields of energy, space, AI, and security.
  • Target projects that could lead to Horizon Europe applications.

Eligibility

Lead Applicants: Must be employed at a UK HEI and hold a PhD or equivalent qualification. They do not need to participate in the mobility themselves but must oversee the application and project.

Mobility Participants: Open to UK-based researchers (PhD, post-doc, lecturers, etc.) and research-related staff (e.g., technicians, innovation managers) employed at the Lead UK HEI. Mobility must occur between 1 April 2025 and 31 January 2026.

French Collaboration: Institutions must have an established or new partner in France.
