To achieve this, we collect and process data about program participants and applicants. We value your privacy and are committed to protecting your personal data. This privacy notice and consent form explains how we collect, use, and process your personal information as part of the Mastercard Foundation Scholars Program.

1. Purpose of data collection and use

The information you provide will be used by the University of Edinburgh's Mastercard Foundation Scholars Program to make analysis on the progress of the Program and learn from the data collected, including monitoring and evaluating the effectiveness of the Mastercard Foundation Scholars Program, University of Edinburgh program and to learn how to improve it for future participants. Some of the data may also be shared with Mastercard Foundation for the purpose of their monitoring and evaluation and they may also contact you directly in relation to gathering further feedback or promoting relevant opportunities.

2. What data do we collect?

We may collect some or all of the following information about you:

• name, age, and gender
• nationality
• contact details
• participation details in the Program
• marital status
• presence of a disability
• matriculation and progression data
• feedback and responses to surveys.

3. Who will your data be shared with?

The University of Edinburgh's Mastercard Foundation Scholars Program team may share your data with the following parties:

• Mastercard Foundation as part of our reporting requirements. They may also contact you directly in relation to gathering further feedback or promoting relevant opportunities.
• Third-party data processors hired by Mastercard Foundation or Mastercard Foundation Scholars Program at the University of Edinburgh to assist with monitoring and evaluation (for example data storage and analysis organisations).

4. Legal basis

We will collect this data when you have given us consent to do so.

5. Retention

We will hold the personal data you provided for us until the end of the current contract with Mastercard Foundation, at the end of 2030.

6. Automated processing and profiling

We do not use profiling or automated decision-making processes

7. Your rights

You are no obligated to give your consent. You are eligible to participate in all aspects of the program, regardless of your decision to share your data. Consent to data sharing is entirely separate from program application and participation. You have the following rights regarding your personal data:

• Right to access: You have the right to request a copy of the information we hold about you.
• Right to rectification: You have the right to ask us to correct any inaccurate information we hold about you.
• Right to erasure: You have the right to ask us to delete your information.
• Right to restriction of processing: You have the right to ask us to restrict the processing of your information.
• Right to object to processing: You have the right to object to the processing of your information.
• Right to data portability: You have the right to request that your data be transferred to another organisation.

8. Withdrawing your consent
